Figma Design Systems

process and systems

Overview

In February 2024, The DISH business enterprise gained licenses for Figma. Having been a fig fanatic since its inception, I was elated about the opportunity to incorporate everything it had to offer into our design/marketing ecosystem. This adoption coincided with the brand refresh of Sling TV, which greatly expanded the utility and necessity of Figma’s collaborative capabilities.

Among the Figma-centric responsibilities I took ownership of were:
– architecture of the workspace structure
– defining the design process from concept to delivery
– organization and maintenance of the email design library
– creation of a branding design kit based on new brand guidelines
– creation of a template system for rapid production versioning
– design and maintenance of the programmer logo library
– providing training resources for all of the above

Check out a demo of the Figma system I designed for team use and a walkthrough of the marketing templates built from scratch to optimize production processes below.

RESULT

From the expansive Photoshop template library to a fully consolidated Figma system, this kind of marketing templatization has been used to version out many thousands of creative assets across a huge swath of product specs in a rapidly expedited amount of time. What previously took whole days or weeks can now be designed & delivered in a few hours, with Figma elevating the collaborative experience so that designers can work and contribute simultaneously to projects. It’s no surprise that clients love it too, so beyond adding tremendous value to the company in time savings, the fluidity of communication between stakeholders from concept to delivery has never been more efficient.
